WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cards tie with Yakima on the road

4/26/21

The North Idaho College women’s soccer game at Yakima Valley College ended in a 0-0 tie on Saturday, April 24 in Yakima, Washington.

"We played well against Yakima," said Head Coach Kellsi Parson. "We had plenty of opportunities to score, but could not find the back of the net."

Cynthia Johnson started her first game in the goal in her college career as Hailee Mize, NIC's normal starting keeper, found herself playing on the field after she broke her finger earlier in the week. Johnson had a huge game for the Cardinals.

"I told Cynthia the day before the game she was starting and to see the excitement on her face was awesome," said Parson. "She did a great job in the goal. She came up with a couple big saves that kept the game tied at 0-0."

The backline was played by Arden Moore, Halley Marschall, Grace Mulcahy and Kendall Bell. All four athletes played a complete 90 minute game and did great job keeping Yakima off the scoreboard

In the 88th minute, Emily Stuart found Mize making a run up the left side of the field. Mize dribbled passed a defender and put a shot on goal. Yakima’s keeper, Sophia Pixton, came up with a good save.

The women’s soccer team plays at the Community College of Spokane on Saturday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m.
