WOMEN'S SOCCER: 2019-20 Season Highlights

The North Idaho College women’s soccer team had a year that saw its fair share of ups and downs. The season ended with a record of 6-5-3 in conference and 8-6-5 overall. The record left the team in 5th place in the East Region of the NWAC.

The Cardinals had many close and exciting games throughout the year. They found themselves leading late in games against Walla Walla Community College (the league champion) twice, Columbia Basin College (who went to the playoffs) and Yakima Valley College who finished 4th in the East Region. Both games against Walla Walla ended in a one goal loss and the games against CBC and YVC ended in ties.

The two games against Spokane Falls Community College were memorable as well. In the game at NIC, the girls were down two goals early on. By the end of the half, the game was 2-1 and it looked like NIC had the momentum. The game finished in heartbreak with a last-minute goal by Spokane. The game at Spokane finished in a similar manner.

Maya Lewis and Kaleigh Haworth were the two sophomores who went on to play at a 4-year institution. Maya Lewis chose Northwest University in Kirkland, WA and Kaleigh Haworth chose Corban University in Salem, OR. Both players will be missed at North Idaho College.
