MEN'S SOCCER: NIC alum earns Green Beret
5/27/20
Brady Ulen, an alum of North Idaho College's men’s soccer program, recently earned his Special Forces Tab. Ulen is a 2015 graduate of North Idaho College and played center back for the Cardinals.
In 2014, Ulen scored nine goals and was a leading force in the team’s run to the NWAC championship game. He then transferred on to Western Washington University where he played center back and right back and was crucial to the Vikings’ 2016 appearance in the second round of the NCAA II playoffs. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2017 from WWU and joined the US Army in 2018.
Ulen decided to advance his military career by completing Special Forces training. In October, Ulen completed SERE school, military training in Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape. In April, he earned his Green Beret and Long Tab and has since begun language training with the U.S. Army’s 7th Group, which is typically deployed to Central America and occasionally the Middle East.
Upon hearing of Ulen’s accomplishments, his former teammates and coaches said if there’s anyone they know that can succeed in Special Forces as a Green Beret--it’s Brady. The Cardinals wish him continued success on his journey and are grateful for his service to our country.
