MEN'S BASKETBALL: Defense key to Cardinal victory

On a night when the North Idaho College offense seemed like it couldn’t buy a bucket, the defense came through big time in an 85-47 victory over Big Bend Community College Wednesday night, Feb. 5 in Moses Lake, Washington.

The Cards held the Vikings to just 22 points in the first half (42-22), and 25 points in the final frame to improve to 22-1 overall record and 10-0 in the Northwest Athletic Conference East Region.

Sophomore Christian Guess paced NIC with 26 points and six rebounds while sophomore Phillip Malatare added 14 points and led the defensive charge with seven steals. Sophomore James Carlson continued his steady play with nine points and three blocked shots.

North Idaho College returns home this Saturday afternoon to host Walla Walla Community College in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
