MEN'S BASKETBALL: Hot shooting leads to runaway win


Christian Guess scored a game-high 35 points powering North Idaho College to a 118-81 rout of Yakima Valley College on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Yakima, Washington. The sophomore hit 13-of-18 from the field (72%) adding five rebounds and four steals.

Sophomore Emmitt Taylor III was also on fire, connecting on six of ten from beyond the arc (60%) for 20 points; 18 of which were in the second half as the Cards pulled away from their 55-36 halftime lead. Sophomores Phillip Malatare and James Carlson also had big afternoons, contributing 17 and 13 points respectively, each grabbing seven boards in a 47-25 rebounding advantage.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 20-1 overall and sit atop the Eastern Region in Northwest Athletic Conference play with an 8-0 record.

North Idaho College returns home this Saturday to host Treasure Valley Community College (11-7 overall, 4-3 in conference) for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
