MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards win again as "Border Battle" looms

North Idaho College held off a determined Columbia Basin College squad for a 96-87 victory on Monday, Jan. 20 in Pasco, Washington to remain undefeated in Northwest Athletic Conference play. Despite the Cardinals shooting 60% from the field, the Hawks kept it close, thanks to a 45-9 scoring advantage from the 3-point line.

Sophomore Christian Guess scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the second half while sophomore Nate Pryor tallied 12 of his 22 points in the final 20 minutes to hold off the Hawks. Pryor was also a force on defense with six steals. Sophomores Phillip Malatare and Yusuf Mohammad finished in double-figures as well; Malatare with 17, Mohammad with 12.

Coming up Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 pm, it’s the Border Battle as Community Colleges of Spokane come to Rolly Williams Court in NIC’s Christianson Gymnasium to compete for bragging rights and the number one spot in the NWAC’s East Region.

The Sasquatch check in at 17-3 overall, and 7-0 in conference, while the Cardinals are 18-1 overall, and 6-0 in conference.
