MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals grind out win at Walla Walla

Sophomore Nate Pryor scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half leading North Idaho College to a 104-95 victory over the host Walla Walla Community College on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Sophomore James Carlson scored 16 of his 19 points in the first 20 minutes as the Cardinals led at the half 54-47. To their credit, the Warriors (6-10, 0-4) hung tough, hitting 10 three-pointers in the second half to keep the game interesting. NIC (15-1, 3-0) took it to the rim in the final 20 minutes, forcing Walla Walla into numerous fouls which ultimately proved to be the difference. The Cards outscored the Warriors 21-0 at the charity stripe.

Beside Pryor and Carlson, other Cardinals in double-figures included sophomores Christian Guess with 16 and Joey Naccarato with 13. Sophomore Yusuf Mohammad grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds as the Cardinals outrebounded the Warriors 42-32. North Idaho returns home this week for a pair of home contests: Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Wenatchee Valley College and Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against Blue Mountain Community College.
