WRESTLING: Team prepares for an eventful December


Back on campus after the college’s Thanksgiving break, the NIC wrestling team is gearing up for a few busy weeks leading them into Christmas break. The Cards currently have four undefeated wrestlers on the season with Isaac Lopez (125) at 14-0 and Jacob Swift (157) at 15-0. Swift and Lopez both won the Northwest Open and Mike Clock Open earlier this season. Having wrestled unattached this semester, Andy Lucero (125) and Zay Duran (165) are both 4-0 this season and each recently won the Spokane Open. Lucero and Duran are looking to make their way into the Cardinal lineup before Christmas break at the end of the current semester.

This weekend, the Cardinals head to Great Falls, Montana for 3 duals at the University of Providence on Friday, Dec. 6 and the Battle of the Rockies Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 7. The team heads to Reno, Nevada on Dec. 15 for the Reno Tournament of Champions before returning home on Dec. 19 to host Big Bend Community College. To close out December, the Cards will host the 49th Annual Tri-State Tournament on Dec. 20-21.
