VOLLEYBALL: Season comes to an end

The Cardinals ended their winning streak on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the NWAC Championship Tournament in Tacoma, Washington. The Cardinals met up with Tacoma Community College for the first round. The team seemed as though they could not get into a good rhythm all game, which caused them to get behind early on. Tacoma Community College kept the intensity and picked up everything the Cards sent over, causing the Cardinals shut down and take a 3-1 loss. The Cardinals then found themselves in the loser bracket—facing Bellevue Community College the same night.

Once again, the Cardinals came out flat. Bellevue jumped to a comfortable lead and finished the set quickly. The Cards changed things up the second set with a new lineup and found themselves gaining momentum quickly. They were able to win the second set which took them to the third set for a tie-breaker. The Cardinals overcame a 13-8 deficit and tied it up at 13. They battled to the end but a deep shot hit to the corner by Bellevue Community College ultimately ended the Cardinals season.

“Such a hard day to watch go down. We did not bring our 'A' game, or even our 'B' game…and the other teams jumped all over that. We had a great run and a season to be proud of; unfortunately, it came to an end sooner than we expected,” said NIC Volleyball Head Coach Kelsey Stanley.

The Cardinals finish their season with a record of 27-5.

Final scores-
Tacoma CC: 11-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-21
Bellevue CC: 16-25, 25-17, 15-17
