WOMEN’S SOCCER: NIC still in playoff contention

After a devastating loss on the road at Walla Walla Community College on Saturday, Oct. 26, the Cards had seemingly lost all hope for the playoffs. The 1-0 loss should have ended the Cardinals’ season, however, with Spokane Falls Community College and Yakima Valley College also losing on Saturday, the run for the 3rd seed is still intact.

It has been a season of what-ifs for the Cardinals. What if NIC had tied Spokane Falls in September? What if the goal was not called back against Columbia Basin in Pasco? The what-ifs have now changed to what if the women win on Wednesday, Oct. 30 in Spokane? If the women win on Wednesday, the chances that this crazy season will end in the playoffs is very high.

The rivalry game against Spokane Falls Community College in September was a great game. A 2-1 loss for NIC saw a few red cards, a couple of yellow cards and two teams that walked off the field knowing the last game of the season could be the game that sends someone to the playoffs. On Oct. 30, the rivalry game will be played at Spokane Falls Community College and is set to start at 4:00 p.m. The winner will have their chance of going to the playoffs!
