WOMEN’S SOCCER: NIC against Columbia Basin College ends in tie

An early goal for NIC was not enough to secure a win against Columbia Basin College on Wednesday, Oct. 23 on the Cardinals’ home field when Sofia Schenpf finished a great shot off an assist from Autumn Stewart. In the 31 minute CBC tied up the game and those were the only goals that were scored between the two teams.

At the half, NIC changed their line up to try and score a game-winner. Emmaleah Allen who normally plays center defender found herself as a center forward in an effort to push the pace for NIC. It was a great effort by everyone who played different positions and a game that could have definitely gone NIC’s way. With the clock stopped, the coaching staff sent every single player for NIC in on a corner that nearly went in if it was not for a defender standing on the goal post deflecting the ball out of the back of the net. Maya Lewis found Autumn Stewart who put in a great effort to put the ball in the back of the net. The ball did not bounce NIC’s way and the game ended in a tie.

Women’s soccer will be on the road against Walla Walla Community College on Saturday, Oct. 26. The playoffs race is coming down to the wire. There is still a chance for the women to take the third seed in the East Region.
