The Columbia Basin College Hawks knocked the Cardinals out of playoff contention Wednesday, Oct. 23 on NIC’s home field. The Cardinals got into the Hawks’ penalty area in their first few possessions but couldn’t connect on the final pass. In the 21st minute, the Hawks earned a corner and sent it past the far post but Brian Licona’s header ricocheted back to him and second chance put the Hawks up 1-0.

In the second half, a free-kick was served in from the right side of the field and Jason Cortes was able to finish the rebound in the 59th minute. The final home game of the season for the Cardinals results in a 2-0 loss to the Hawks.

NIC travels to Walla Walla Community College on Saturday, Oct. 26 and play at 2:15 p.m.
