WOMEN’S SOCCER: NIC’s second win in Oregon this weekend

After playing Blue Mountain Community College on Friday, NIC traveled to Ontario, Oregon and pulled off another conference win against Treasure Valley Community College. It took a while for the women to get going, but once they did, the scoring didn’t stop. A great pass by Maya Lewis lead to a goal by Berenice Chavez that was placed perfectly passed the outstretched arms of the keeper. Minutes after NIC scored, Treasure Valley created a foul in the box in which they converted to score, their lone goal of the game. The Cardinals gained back control after the penalty kick and scored with ten minutes left in the half. Autumn Stewart slotted a goal to the right side of the keeper after she ran onto a ball that Lewis had played passed the back line making the score 2-1 at the half.

Late in the second, Sofia Schnepf made a great goal scoring run through the box as Berenice Chavez crossed a ball. It was good for Schnepf to score a goal on this road trip, she recently broke her nose which kept her out of practice and limited in the previous game against Blue Mountain. Demi Randall scored the fourth and final goal of the game off a great pass from Lewis.

The women will host Walla Walla Community College who are currently undefeated (9-0) on Wednesday, September 25th. This will be a battle between the number one team and the number three team in the east region of the NWAC.
