WOMEN’S SOCCER: NIC women’s team falls to Yakima Valley C.C. 3-1

Shortly after the game started, Yakima Valley Community College’s Sessi Allott took a shot that went over the hands of NIC’s goal keeper to give Yakima the 1-0 lead in Saturday’s match. Twenty minutes later, Corynn Vigil put Yakima up 2-0.

After half-time, NIC came out and controlled possession for the rest of the game. The NIC women had several opportunities that were inches away from going in the goal. With time running down, Cidney Bauwens took a free kick that led to a foul by Yakima in the box. Maya Lewis converted a penalty kick to bring NIC within two goals. With four minutes left in the game, Cidney Bauwens took another free kick that Sofia Schnepf took and then only missed the goal by inches. The final score ended 3-1 in favor of Yakima.

The NIC soccer teams will be on the road at Blue Mountain Community College Sept. 20 and Treasure Valley Community College on Sept. 21.
