WOMEN'S SOCCER: NIC's home opener ends in an exciting tie

It was an exciting home opener for the North Idaho College Cardinals against Tacoma CC Titans ending in a 1-1 tie. The first half ended tied at zero, but Titan keeper had to make 2 excellent saves on shots by Maya Lewis and Sydnie Clark to keep the Cardinals off the score board.

The second half was more of the same back and forth action until a TCC attacker was fouled just outside of the penalty area in the 85th minute of the match. Raquel Prado-Huerta hit a bending free kick that was just beneath the crossbar and just outside the reach of freshman NIC keeper, Hailee Mize for the first goal of the game. The Cardinals got a corner kick with seconds left in the game. Lewis played the ball in front of the goal. After rattling around a bit the ball bounced to Sydney Moore who shot it between the legs of a Tacoma defender sneaking it past the goalie for the equalizer!

NIC's record is now 1-1-1 and they will be headed to play Rogue CC and Lane CC this coming weekend.
