MEN'S BASKETBALL: Final Four bound

North Idaho College (29-2) used a big second-half to earn a spot in the Northwest Athletic Conference Final Four with a 84-56 win over Centralia (20-11) Friday afternoon at Everett Community College.

Tied at 34 at the half, the Cardinals, the top-seed in the East Region, opened with a 28-6 run over the Trailblazers to extinguish any thought of an upset by the 3rd-seeded team out of the West.  That push was fueled by Freshman Emmitt Taylor III who knocked down 5, 3-pointers for 19 second-half points and ended up with a game-high 24 off the bench. East Region regular-season MVP RayQuan Evans filled up the stat sheet once again. The sophomore, who claimed the 2018 NWAC Tournament MVP, finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Sophomore Alphonso Anderson and freshman Nate Pryor also ended up with double-digit scoring. Anderson with 12 points and 8 rebounds, Pryor 12 points and a game-high 9 assists.

The Cardinal defense, often overshadowed by an explosive offense, forced 18 Trailblazer turnovers and also recorded 13 steals. NIC controlled the glass 53-37.

The Cardinals will now take on Lane College (27-3), the top seed from the South Region Saturday March 16 at 5pm. The Titans advanced to the Final Four with a 90-80 victory over Green River.
