MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals rout Yaks


North Idaho continued its march through the East Region of the Northwest Athletic Conference with a 122-72 victory at Yakima Valley (7-20,4-11) Saturday afternoon.


Sophomore Alphonso Anderson and Freshman Nate Pryor took charge early, each scoring 16 points as the Cardinals led 54-32 at the half. The offense, tops in conference play (113 points per game) carried over in the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Yaks 68-40.  Anderson finished with a double-double, game-highs in points (29) and rebounds (17) and blocks (2) while Pryor ended up with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore RayQuan Evans also continued his outstanding play, scoring 11 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, handing out 5 assists to go along with 4 steals. Sophomore Jared Greene and Freshman James Carlson rounded out double-digit scorers with 10 points apiece. Besides the high-flying offense, the defense was on point as well, forcing 24 Yakima Valley turnovers and 13 steals while dominating the glass 52-31.
