MEN'S BASKETBALL: Big second half fuels Cardinals win


North Idaho College exploded on offense in the second-half to overpower visiting Blue Mountain CC Saturday afternoon at Rolly Williams Court 128-85.  Leading 48-42 at the half, the NWAC top ranked and Eastern Conference leading Cardinals (23-2, 12-0) outscored the Timberwolves (4-19, 2-10), 80-41, in the final 20 minutes in winning their 14th consecutive game. Once again, the offense followed the lead of the defense as the Cards forced 26 turnovers and had 16 steals. Four players scored in double figures led by the 31 points of the reigning Player of the Week Nate Pryor. The freshman added 7 assists and 4 steals to his stat line. Freshman Emmitt Taylor was lights out from beyond the arc, connecting on 8, 3’s for his 29 points in just 20 minutes of playing time. RayQuan Evans had a hand in all facets of the game. The Sophomore POY candidate scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, handed out 6 assists, had 5 steals and 2 blocked shots. And Phillip Malatare finished with a double-double. The freshman guard scored 21 points and handed out a season-high 12 assists and had 3 steals.

A showdown awaits as the Cardinals travel to Walla Walla Monday afternoon to face the second-place Warriors (16-9, 10-2). The contest is a make-up game, originally scheduled February 9th  that was postponed because of bad weather. Catch all the action on our You Tube channel at Tip-off at 4pm.
