MEN'S BASKETBALL: Conference win streak reaches 8


Top-ranked North Idaho College wrapped up the first half of the NWAC season 8-0 in Eastern Conference play, 19-2 overall, with a 131-83 victory over Yakima Valley Saturday afternoon (1/26) at Christianson Gymnasium.


All 12 Cardinals put points on the board with sophomore guard RayQuan Evans recording a game-high 21 points, 6 others reaching double-figures as well.

Sophomore post Jarod Greene continues his strong play with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward Iaian McLaughlin had a huge game coming off the bench for a season-high 19 points, 15 in the first half on 3 of 4 shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman guard Phillip Malatare also hit double-figures scoring 13.


In all, the Cardinals reserves scored 77 points, 4 in double-figures. Besides McLaughlin’s 19 points, freshman James Carlson tossed in 14, 13 from freshman Jaden Dewar, and 10 from freshman Yusuf Mohamed.


NIC also continued it’s dominance on the glass, outrebounding the Yaks(5-15,2-6)    



“We completed that stretch of 5 games in 11 days in fine fashion,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “The guys put in the work so we’ll take a day off and then get back at it.”
