WRESTLING: Match with Simon Fraser University Cancelled


The NIC Athletics Department announced on Monday that the final home regular season wrestling match, scheduled for Thursday, January 24th against Simon Fraser University, has been cancelled. The match was cancelled at the request of Simon Fraser University due to a schedule conflict. The Cardinals remaining home match will be February 10th when North Idaho College hosts the NJCAA West District tournament. The post season wrestling tournament is the qualifying region tournament to earn an individual berth at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 1-2, 2019. The top 3 wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the NJCAA national tournament.

The NJCAA West District tournament will consist of NJCAA Region 18 teams from NIC, Highline College, Umpqua CC, Southwestern Oregon CC, and Clackamas Community College. The Cardinals are currently ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA poll, while fellow region rivals Clackamas CC (ranked #1) and SWOCC (ranked #15) are also in the top 20.

The NJCAA West District tournament is Sunday, February 10, 2019, with matches beginning at 10:00am. Admission for an All-Day Pass is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for seniors and students. Children under 10 are admitted free.
