MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cardinals win consolation title

North Idaho College overcame a cold-shooting first half, caught fire in the second, and rolled to a 102-73 victory over Central Arizona Saturday night in the 2018 Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in Mesa, Arizona.

The Cardinals (11-2) outscored the Vaqueros(4-9) 65-33 in the final 20-minutes to rebound from a 40-37 half-time deficit. Sophomore Ray Quan Evans led four players in double-figures with a full stat line of 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Freshman Nate Pryor, named to the All-Tournament Team, added 15 points while Sophomore Alphonso Anderson just missed a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore Jared Greene, second in the NWAC in field goal percentage at 70 percent, continued his hot shooting going 5 for 7 for his 10 points.

“It was a great tune-up for Conference play,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “We’re ready to go.”

The Cardinals open league play Wednesday night in Moses Lake, Washington against Big Bend CC. Catch both the Women’s and Men’s games live on our You Tube channel beginning at 5:30pm.
