MEN'S BASKETBALL: Taylor sets school record in victory

Freshman guard Emmitt Taylor III poured in 46 points, including a school record 12 3-pointers as North Idaho College overwhelmed Fairchild AFB 135-70 Tuesday night at Rolly Williams Court.

Taylor eclipsed the previous record of 11 3’s set two years ago by Niko Bevins and missed by one point the single-game record of 47 by Ray Quan Evans in last years double-overtime victory over Everett in the NWAC playoffs.

Several other Cardinals had outstanding efforts as well.

Speaking of Evans, Ray Quan scored 17 of his 26 points in the second-half while adding 7 assists; Freshman James Carlson tossed in 13 points while grabbing 6 rebounds and blocking 2 shots; Sophomore Drew Sheridan was 5 for 5 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free throw line for his 13 points and Phillip Malatare, getting his first start of the season while Nate Pryor rested an assortment of injuries, had his best game as a Cardinal. The freshman had quite the stat line, 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting, team-highs in rebounds (8), assists (8), and steals (7).

“We were trying to get Emmitt going again after a tough road trip to California”, said Head Coach Corey Symons. “Mission accomplished I would say.”

NIC will take a break until December 27th-29th when they participate in the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in Mesa, Arizona, featuring some of the top JUCO schools in the country.
