WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Young Cardinals challenge #4 in the nation

The freshmen heavy North Idaho College Women’s Basketball team played the #4 ranked NJCAA DII team in the nation tough for thirty-eight minutes. Two poorly executed minutes to start the fourth quarter led to an 86-72 loss to Mesa Community College in Mesa Arizona on Friday, November 16, 2018. The Lady Cardinals took a one point lead into the locker room at half-time and trailed by two at the end of the third quarter. The young Lady Cards forced shots and turned the ball over during the first two minutes of the fourth quarter leading to easy baskets and the biggest lead of the game for the Thunderbirds. The Lady Cardinals regained composure and battled tough for the remainder of the quarter but could not close the gap. Freshman guard, Alivia Williams, led NIC with 20 points and 4 steals. Freshman guard, Halle Eborall, added 19 points and was a key defensive contributor. Sophomore transfer Heidi Sellman was strong inside scoring 10 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. The Lady Cardinals forced the Thunderbirds into 25 turnovers.

The Lady Cardinals return to action at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, November 17. Tip-off is at 6:30 P.M. Pacific Time.
