11/16/2018

The Cardinals volleyball team started the morning off on Thursday with the Linn Benton Community College, Road Runners who are ranked number 1 in the NWAC South. The Cardinals and Road Runners battled back and forth, set for set with each team winning 2 sets after 4 had been played. The Cardinals started the fifth set slow with a 5-1 score right off the get-go. With a service ace and a kill from Hailee Etter the Cardinals slowly started catching up and then passing the Road Runners up. NIC ended up missing game point serve to allow Linn Benton to finish it off 13-15. Hailee Etter led the Cardinals with 15 kills, followed by Kayla Neumann with 12. Kynzey Mitzel had a record day with 39 digs. “It was a tough loss. Obviously, every point at this tournament is crucial and the girls weren’t successful when it came down to crunch time. I’m very happy with how we battled and never gave up. Now we have a long road  ahead of us if we want to be in the Championship on Sunday, but we can do it,” commented Head Volleyball Coach, Kelsey Stanley.
