WOMEN'S SOCCER: NIC dropped from NWAC tourney by Peninsula

Saturday's battle between the #2 seed out of the East, North Idaho College, and the #1 seed from the North, Peninsula College, was exactly that, but ended with a 1-0 for the Pirates of Peninsula. The game was tight throughout the first half with both teams creating chances, but the tie was finally broken less than 5 minutes before halftime when PC's Taylor Graham found some space about 25 yards from goal and ripped a shot into the upper left corner of goal.

The second half was back and forth as well. At one point, Sofia Schnepf almost got the equalizer, but the free kick was inches over the crossbar. NIC started to get more chances late in the game, but simply ran out of time. Head Coach Dan Hogan said, "It was a tremendous match. I might have enjoyed watching it if I wasn't so anxious being the coach. This team had a great year and we played our best game on Saturday. That's all a coach can ever ask of his players.

Peninsula moves on to the Final Four where they will play Highline in the second semi-final of the day this Friday. The Cardinals finished 9-6-5 and made the postseason for the 15th time in the last 16 years.
