WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cardinals dealt setback

The Cardinals were dealt a minor setback in their quest for an NWAC East Region championship when they lost 0-1 to Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash. The Hawks of CBC were in desperation mode as then need to win the remainder of their games to still have a chance to make the playoffs and they played one of their best games all year. NIC was on their heels early and struggled to possess the ball in the first half. In the second half, NIC started to assert itself and gained more control of the ball. This led to several attacking opportunities, but none of them were converted into a good scoring chance. Then, in the 82nd minute of the game, a breakdown in the Cardinal defense led to the Hawk's Danielle Chang getting control of the ball at the top of the penalty area where she ripped a shot into the right side of the goal for the only score of the game.

NIC plays Walla Walla CC this Saturday at 12 noon on Eisenwinter field.
