WOMEN'S GOLF: Brown win NWAC Championship

05/22/2018

The 2018 NWAC Championship hosted at Apple Tree Golf Resort concluded today with the women finishing in third place. The Lady Cardinals finished with a two day team total of 502, 13 shots out of first place.  The highlight of the tournament came once again from the play of Sophomore Madi Brown.  Brown shot a final round 74 on a long and difficult golf course to win individual honors by two shots over Columbia Basin's Brianna Esvelt.  Both Mackenzie Robins and Mikal Jerman finished T15 individually with two day totals of 175.  "Once again it was great to see Madi step up and play an incredible round when she needed to," head coach Russell Grove said. "She struggled with her putting the first round and had 38 putts but worked on a couple things for a while after the first round and had only 28 putts today.  She's always worked hard and wanted to improve and that's why she's on top today.  This win will give her a ton of confidence going into her last two years of college golf."
