MEN'S GOLF: Henderson's 65 helps clinch NWAC regular season title

05/16/2018

The Cardinal men won their second straight regular season Northwest Athletic Conference Title on Monday. The men ended up finishing third as a team at the SWOC NWAC League Match however that gave them enough points to clinch the regular season conference title. The League Match was played at Bandon Dunes golf resort where the men played the Bandon Dunes course for round one and Pacific Dunes course for round two. After round 1 the men were in first place by 1 shot over second place Skagit Valley. However, during the second round too many big numbers got to most of the guys and they fell back to third place. The highlight of the week was Sophomore Todd Henderson's play during the final round. Henderson shot a bogey free 65 to cruise to a 5 shot victory in individual honors. "It was so great to see Todd get the win," head coach Russell Grove said. "He has come such a long way since I met him in 2016.  He's a great player and great kid and honestly I'm not sure he knows how good he is and can be, but I know his final round and this win will only open the doors for his confidence going into conference and playing for Cal State Dominguez Hills next year of what he's capable of accomplishing."

The men head to Yakima, WA this weekend for the post season NWAC Conference Championship tournament at Apple Tree Golf Course.
