SOFTBALL: Curtan leads #1 Cardinals to sweep of Wenatchee Valley College

Kayla Curtan went 7-8 on the day at the plate to help lead the Cardinals to a sweep of Wenatchee Valley College. In game one, Madi Mott earned another win in the circle. Curtan went 3-3 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 2 runs scored. In the 5th inning the Cardinals surged ahead with Curtan hitting a double, Megan Carver earning a base on balls, Kennedy Anderson hitting a single to score Curtan, Madi Mott hitting a single with 2 RBI’s and Jori Kerr finishing the inning with a single to score Mott. The Knights answered back in the top of 6th scoring 4 runs to tie up the game. The Cardinals won the game 6-7 in the bottom of the 8th with Taylor Anderson getting a lead off single, followed by Megan Carver getting a single, and Kennedy Anderson had the game winning single to right field to score Taylor Anderson.

In game two, the Cardinals had a slow start at the plate, but picked up momentum in the 5th inning scoring 7 runs with 2 outs to take the lead. In the sixth inning Kalyna Korok hit a lead-off homerun and then Jori Kerr hit a back-to-back homerun to score. Ashlyn Winn hit a solo homerun as well. Kayla Curtan then hit a single and Megan Carver scored her to run rule the Knights 12-4.

The Cardinals face off tomorrow vs. Columbia Basin College at noon and 2pm at Post Falls High School.
