Cardinals Recognized as NWAC Players of the Week


Cardinal standouts Madi Mott- Softball, and Sean Langham - Men's Golf, were selected as NWAC Players of the Week.

Madi Mott, Gladstone HS / Gladstone, OR., pitched a 4 inning no hitter with 7 strikeouts to lead top-ranked North Idaho to a 9-0 win over Yakima. Mott is now 12-1 on the season (2nd in wins), has 107 strikeouts (2nd) and league leading 1.47 ERA. Mott, a freshman, is hitting well for NIC with a .518 batting average, 6th best in the league.

“Madi’s work ethic on and off the field is what sets her apart from her competition," said Cardinal head coach Don Don Williams. "She is getting better every week and contributes to our team’s success on defense and offense.”

Sean Langham, Barker HS/ Sydney, Australia, led the Cardinal Men to the NWAC League tournament title at Avondale Golf Course on April 15-16. Langham was the individual medalist with a two day score of 143, including a 2 under 70 on the finale on Monday in rainy and windy conditions. NIC defeated Bellevue by 17 strokes to move into 1st place in the NWAC standings after 2 tournaments, with 2 to play. Langham shot 72-73, finishing 3rd, to help the Cardinals win the Spokane Bigfoot Golf Classic Invitational on April 8-9 at the Links Course in Post Falls, Idaho.

Langham, a sophomore, has committed to join the University of Idaho next season.
