MEN’S BASKETBALL: NIC in NWAC Championship game

North Idaho College is proving the axiom that defense wins championships after Saturday’s hard-fought 79-73 victory over Portland in the semi-finals of the NWAC Championship Tournament at Everett Community College. It was the second-consecutive victory over a #1 seed after last Sunday's 112-110 double overtime victory over Everett.

The Cardinals held the Panthers to 38% shooting (25-66) from the field including holding sophomore Gabe Garrett, the NWAC's 13th leading scorer at nearly 20 points per game, scoreless. RayQuan Evans led four Cardinals in double figures with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Sophomore Charles Williams added 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting while Aushanti Potts-Woods and Seth Christiaens came off the bench to score 11 points apiece.
