WOMAN’S BASKETBALL: Offensive struggles lead to loss

The North Idaho College women’s basketball team struggled offensively and lost on the road to Walla Walla Community College 89-62 on Saturday, February 24, to give Walla Walla their 25th straight win. Sophomores Whitney Meier and Lana Berg came in with the needed competitive mentality scoring 17 and 10 points respectively. Berg did so on only 7 shot attempts for the game as NIC struggled to get her the ball finishing with only 2 assists as a team for the game. Defensively, NIC did well in the first half holding WWCC’s leading scorers to well below their averages only to give up 50 points in the second half. WWCC shot 53.1% from the field as opposed to 36.5% for NIC and outrebounded NIC 41-28.

NIC is now 18-9 overall and 9-6 in the Eastern Region of the NWAC. NIC will host Wenatchee Valley College on Wednesday, February 28, to conclude the regular season. Tip-off is at 6:00 PM and is followed by the men’s game.
