MEN'S BASKETBALL: Quick start leads to blow out victory

02/22/2018

6th-ranked North Idaho College bolted out to a 20-1 lead on their way to a 110-51 rout of Blue Mountain CC (4-21, 1-14) Wednesday night in Pendleton, Oregon. The Cardinal defense held the Timberwolves to just 26% (15-57) shooting, 11% (2-19) from beyond the arc and forcing 30 T-Wolf turnovers in snapping a two-game NWAC losing streak. Offensively, NIC (20-7, 10-4) was hitting on all cylinders, converting 65% (46-71) of their shots, 45% (9-20) from beyond the arc. Sophomore Jalen Burkett led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points as five Cardinals scored in double figures. Sophomore Tyler Brimhall added 17 points, Freshman Jarod Greene 15, Sophomore Aushanti Potts-Woods 13, and Freshman Iain McLaughlin 12. “I was very happy with our intensity,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “Now we need to take that effort back on the road this Saturday to face the NWAC defending champions.”

North Idaho College, a game behind Walla Walla CC in the East Division, take on the 3rd-ranked Warriors (21-6, 11-3) Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at 4pm. Catch all the action live on our You Tube Channel, nicathletics.com.
