MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals fall hard to Sasquatch


The 5th-ranked Community Colleges of Spokane blew past the 3rd-ranked North Idaho College in the second half, upsetting the Cardinals 107-87 Saturday afternoon at the Walter S Johnson Sports Center. The Sasquatch, (19-7, 9-4) who sport a 93 points per game average, tops in the NWAC, hit 24 of 26 (92%) from the charity strip and 8 of 14 (57%) from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes in outscoring NIC 62-48. In all, CCS outscored the Cardinals (19-7, 9-4) 48-9 from the 3-point stripe.


Cardinal freshman RayQuan Evans led four in double figures with 20 points and grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds. Freshman Jared Greene, the NWAC’s field goal percentage leader (66.3%) continued his hot shooting going 8 for 10 for 19 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Sophomore Jalen Burkett added 16 points and 8 rebounds while Sophomore Aushanti Potts-Woods came off the bench to score 12.


North Idaho and Spokane are now tied for second in the NWAC East Division at 9-4, a game behind 10-3 Walla Walla. NIC continues it’s 3-game road swing this Wednesday night at Blue Mountain CC. Watch all the action live on our You Tube Channel at Tip-off at 8pm.
