MEN'S BASKETBALL: Evans shines in Cardinal's victory

RayQuan Evans led four Cardinals in double-figures with a game-high 29 points as North Idaho College knocked off Shoreline CC 84-67 Monday night in the Holiday Inn Express NWAC Crossover at Rolly Williams Court.

The freshman also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Jarod Greene had his best performance of the season with 17 points on 8 of 11 shooting while sophomore Tyler Brimhall chipped in 14 points, including 8 of 9 from the charity stripe. Aushanti Potts-Woods had a big hand in the Cardinal victory coming off the bench with 11 points and was solid at the free throw line hitting 5 of 6.

For the second night in a row, the Cardinals dominated the boards, outrebounding Shoreline 60-30 after dominating Chemeketa 59-43 the night before.

Terrell Brown Jr, the NWAC’s leading scorer at 31 points per game, poured in 28 points on 12 of 16 from the free throw line but managed to hit just 8 of 23 from the field.

“After shooting just 27% percent from the field in the first half, we came out determined to improve on that and we did, hitting 69% of our shots in the second half,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “I was happy with the way the guys responded.”

North Idaho College closes out the tournament in a 2pm contest this afternoon against Highline CC.
