MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cardinals lose third straight

12/08/2017

The 2nd-ranked CC of San Francisco used a 19-2 run in the second half to break open a close game and cruise to a 84-69 victory over the Cardinals in the San Jose City College Classic Friday night in San Jose, California.

The Rams hit a 3-point shot at the half-time buzzer to take a 38-37 lead. Free throw shooting woes continued to haunt the Cardinals as they hit only 11/20 in the second half (55%) after not attempting a free throw in the opening 20 minutes.

Freshman RayQuan Evans led three Cards in double figures with 20 points and 6 rebounds while sophomore Aushanti Potts Wood and freshman Jarod Greene each added 11 points. Greene had a team-high 8 rebounds.

“I was very proud of the way the guys bounced back against the 2nd-ranked team in the state of California after a poor effort Thursday night,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “I think we’re starting to turn the corner.”

The Cardinals face the host Jaguars of San Jose City College in the tournament final Saturday. The Corey Symons Pre-Game Show starts our Webcast coverage at 4:50pm.
