WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Lady Cardinals win in overtime

The North Idaho College Lady Cardinals started off the 2017-2018 season with an exciting 67-64 overtime victory over NJCAA DI Northwest College out of Powell, Wyoming on Friday, November 11.  After a somewhat hesitant first half, NIC picked up the tempo defensively forcing Northwest College into 31 total turnovers.  Sophomore Lana Berg led all scorers with 17 points while grabbing 6 rebounds.  Sophomore Ronnie Harris added 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Sophomore Cierra Dvorak scored 13 points, pulled down 6 rebounds, had 5 steals, and dished out 3 assists.  Freshman Kelsey Auer also had 6 rebounds and freshman post Sydney Hovde tied Dvorak with a game high 5 steals.

The victory was head coach Chris Carlson’s 300th win at North Idaho College. Carlson has now compiled a 300-130 record while at NIC winning seven championships including a NJCAA DI National Championship in 2011.

The Lady Cardinals return to Christianson Gymnasium on the NIC campus tomorrow, November 18, at 8:00 PM against Southwestern Oregon Community College. The game will be webcast at Follow @NICWBBALL on Twitter for continuous coverage of the North Idaho College women’s basketball team.
