VOLLEYBALL: Lady Cardinals Keep Win Streak Going


The NWAC #1 ranked Lady Cardinals kept their winning streak alive this weekend in Moses Lake, WA, at Big Bend Community College where the NWAC East Crossover Tournament was held. The North Idaho College women’s volleyball team did not lose a set over the two day tournament and had five athletes make the All Tournament teams. Second team honors went to Macy DuCoeur and Hailee Etter, and first team honors were awarded to Rachel Leshikar and Kayla Neumann. Halle Hess was selected MVP of the tournament.

The Cardinals defeated three teams in pool play on day one: Treasure Valley Community College 27-25, 25-14, Lane Community College 25-17, 25-16, Centralia Community College 25-20, 25-19. In the playoffs the match switched from best 2 of 3 format, to best 3 of 5, but the results were the same. The Cardinals finished as the top seed in Pool A and swept through the playoffs against Everett Community College 25-16, 25-11, 25-16; Clackamas Community College 25-9, 25-7, 25-10; and Highline College 25-22, 25-19, 25-18. 

The Cardinals win streak reaches 18 with the Championship run. The Cardinals moved up from #2 to #1 in the NWAC polls released on October 20. Chemeketa CC moved up 3 spots to second, and former #1 Linn-Benton Community College dropped to third. The Cards return to NWAC East action on the road at #7 ranked Walla Walla CC at 6:00pm on Friday, October 27, and Saturday October 28 at Treasure Valley CC.
