WOMEN'S SOCCER: NIC loses to 1st place WWCC

In a wet and windy day in Walla Walla, Wash., the North Idaho Cardinals lost to the East Region first place team, Walla Walla CC Warriors 1-5. The game began in a positive fashion for NIC when Aunika Capps, a red-shirt freshman forward from Naches, Wash. scored 23 minutes into the match hitting a screaming shot over the Warrior keeper. That was the last of the good news for the Cardinals. NIC gave up a hat trick to Klarissa Barajas and Dominique Velazquez had 3 assists to lead the Warriors to victory.

"I felt we played right with Walla Walla for this first 40 minutes of the match," commented Head Coach Dan Hogan. "It was tough giving up the second goal just before half-time and then giving up another goal just after half-time took the wind right out of our sails."

The Cardinals are currently in second place in the East Region and play Spokane on Wednesday at Spokane Falls CC at 5pm. The winner of this game will finish in second and host a first round playoff game, while the loser will be third and have to travel to the second place team in the North Region for its first round game.
