MEN'S SOCCER: Cardinals get retribution

10/08/2017

For the second weekend in a row, the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second minute over Blue Mountain Community College. This time around, Conner Kinnune finished a through ball from Cade Roske, and the Cardinals went on to win 3-0 at home. Despite a handful of chances and a pretty significant advantage in possession, the Cardinals failed to expand their lead until after halftime. In a nice combination playing from the back, Oscar Padilla and Riley Glover took the ball from the defensive third to the attacking third. Then a low, worm-burning cross came from the Cardinals' right side, and all the Timberwolves could do was deflect it into their own net thirty-four seconds into the second half. Three minutes later, Josh Greer played Cade Roske who turned on the first touch and put a calm finish into the lower right side of the goal.
The home win was the third consecutive shutout for the Cardinals and their fifth game in nine days. Both soccer programs host Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday with kickoffs at 1pm for the women and 3:15pm for the men.
