VOLLEYBALL: Cards Win Battle of Unbeatens

The Lady Cardinals Volleyball team traveled to Pasco, Washington and knocked off previously undefeated Columbia Basin College to take sole possession of first place in the NWAC East. Both teams entered the contest without a league loss and the first game lived up to the hype as the host Hawks took game one, 25-23.  The Cards picked up the defensive intensity in game two, with some spectacular digs and key blocks to win 25-17. Game 3 went back and forth with the Cards taking control at the end to win 25-23 after the break, despite some questionable calls. The heated contest fired up the Cards in game 4, as they took their game to a different level to win easily 25-13. With the win the Cards move to 7-0 in the NWAC East, 17-5 overall. CBC falls to 8-1 and 16-5 overall, and saw their 8 game winning streak come to an end.

The NWAC released the new Volleyball polls on Friday, and the Cards moved up one spot to 2nd behind Linn-Benton College (7-0 NWAC South, 22-4 overall). The Cards knocked off Linn-Benton, 2-1, in the season opening NWAC Friendlies tournament. CBC was 3rd in the polls after not being ranked in the last poll.

The Cardinals face Wenatchee Valley College in a home match today (October 7) at 2:00 at Christianson Gymnasium. Due to scheduling conflicts in the NWAC, this is the last home match until November 3, sophomore night.
