MEN'S SOCCER: The Cardinals put one in the win column

In the second game of a five game home stand, the Cardinals took down the Chukars of Treasure Valley Community College. The Cardinals outshot the Chukars 18-10 with an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. Luis Hernandez had 3 saves, and Tanner Sayer had 2 for the Cardinals. Flavio Betancourt made six saves for the Chukars, but Conner Kinnune snuck a goal in the 18th minute off a cutback from Omar Hernandez that gave the Cardinals the early lead. Though the Chukars never equalized they forced a few saves from Luis Hernandez in the middle of the first half and created an opportunity against Tanner Sayer late in the game. With three minutes remaining, Omar Hernandez got in behind the Chukars’ defense again. This time his attempt to connect with a teammate deflected into the net off a Chukar defender. The final score was 2-0 in the Cardinals favor.
The men host Blue Mountain Community College tomorrow at 2:15pm.
