Cardinals Knock Off Walla Walla

The Lady Cardinals Volleyball team knocked off Walla Walla Community College in NWAC action Friday evening,9/29, at Christianson Gymnasium. The Cards swept WWCC, 3-0, but all of the games were close. For the first time in the last three matches the Cards won game one, 25-23. The Cards lead 21-17 in game 1 before WWCC mounted a comeback to tie the contest at 23-23. Timely blocks by the Cards proved to be the difference as the Cards were dominant at the net. The Cards won 25-22, and 25-21 to end the match and remain undefeated in NWAC play.
With the win the Cardinals move to 5-0 NWAC East, 15-2 overall. It's the Cards 15th consecutive win against two year schools. The Cardinal matches against 4 year schools in the Carroll College tournament in early September were scheduled as Exhibition contests. Walla Walla drops to 2-3 in NWAC play with the loss. The Lady Cards avenged two defeats to the Warriors from last season, as the Cards shared the East Region title with WWCC.
The Cardinals next play border rival Spokane on Wednesday, October 4, at 6:00pm. The game is the third leg of the triple header homecoming festivities, with a soccer doubleheader at 2:00 and 4:15 at Eisenwinter Field, also against the Community Colleges of Spokane.
