VOLLEYBALL: NIC sweeps Big Bend and Treasure Valley

Wednesday the Cardinal women’s volleyball team swept Big Bend Community College in 3 games. After a slow start in their first home match the Cardinals gained momentum and came back from a 6 point deficit to win the first set 25-14. They came out strong in the second and third sets winning 25-10 and 25-7. The entire roster was able to contribute to the victory. Haillee Etter and Kayla Neumann were the kill leaders for the match with 18 kills each. Rachel Leshikar led the team with 10 digs. Haylee Templeton had 37 assists. “It was a first great home match for the Cardinals. Big Bend has been struggling so it was a great opportunity for us to work on the things that have been giving us trouble.” Said Coach Stanley.

Thursday the Lady Cardinals played Treasure Valley Community College at home and won in 3 games 25-12, 25-23 and 25-18. Halle Hess was the kill leader with 26 kills and 8 digs. Kayla Neumann had 22 kills and Hailee Etter had 21 kills. Rachel Leskikar led the team with 8 digs and Haylee Templeton had 48 assists. “Treasure Valley came ready to play and they gave us a good fight. We were able to compete at the right time to come out on top. Our passing broke down at times and that caused us to struggle in set 2. Overall I was happy with our aggressiveness at the net.” Said Coach Stanley.
