Women's Golf wins Bigfoot Tournament to Clinch NWAC Title

05/03/2017

Women Win 2016-2017 NWAC League Title and Win the Spokane Bigfoot Invitational

The fourth and final NWAC League Match wrapped up Sunday at the Spokane Bigfoot Invitational held at Liberty Lake GC and Meadowwood GC in Liberty Lake, WA.  The women continued their winning streak shooting a two day total of 485, 8 strokes better than second place Columbia Basin College.  That win gave the Cardinals enough points to clinch the 2016-2017 Northwest Athletic Conference League Title. "I'm so proud of how the girls have played this spring," Coach Russell Grove said.  "Winning three straight NWAC League Matches and the League Title is impressive, and will give them great confidence going into the NWAC Championship Tournament."

Freshman Madi Brown led the Cardinals again shooting 85 76 to finish in solo third place.  "I knew Madi was going to play well the second round," Coach Grove said.  "She was getting back to some old tendencies the first round, and we had a good range/practice session after to get her back on track.  She hit it really well the second day. It was also great to see Aly (Mabey) hit it well the second day too." Freshman Mikal Jerman (T5th), Katie Fyall (T5th), and Aly Mabey (T8th) all had top ten finishes as well.

The women take a week off before heading to Bandon Dunes for the Southwest Oregon Invitational, May 14-15.
