NWAC honors Dowd and Men's Basketball

The NWAC released the Player of the Week honors and NIC point guard Sam Dowd was selected after leading the Cardinals to wins over #1 Spokane Community College and #6 Big Bend CC. The former Gonzaga Prep star had 29 points and 6 assists vs Spokane, and tallied 17 points and 12 assists against Big Bend. Dowd leads the NWAC in assists at 7 per game, while averaging 18 points for the season. Dowd was previously selected MVP of the San Jose City College Classic and the Coeur d'Alene INN-vitational Classic after leading the Cardinals to the championship in both preseason tournaments.

The Cardinals men's basketball team was also tabbed by the coaches as the top ranked team in the NWAC after last week's impressive wins. The Cards (11-2 NWAC East, 23-3 overall) were #3 last week and jumped over #2 South Puget Sound (11-0, 20-4). Saturday's opponent Walla Walla CC climbed to 3rd, while Spokane CC slipped to 4th in the polls.
