MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals continue road success
The Cards won their fourth consecutive road game, knocking off Treasure Valley CC 89-81 Saturday afternoon in Ontario, Oregon. Leading at the break 41-40, the Cardinals pounded the ball inside to sophomore Zaquan Satterthwaite. The 8th leading shooter in the NWAC at 59%, scored 11 of his team-high 21 points in the final 20 minutes. The sophomore finished 9 of 12 from the field (75%) and 3 of 3 from the free throw line and also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Sophomore Sam Dowd, who hit a pair of huge, back-to-back buckets down the stretch late in the game, finished with 20 points while Freshman Markus Golder was also a force adding 19 points, including several highlight-reel dunks to go along with 5 rebounds. Overall NIC controlled the glass outrebounding Treasure Valley 41-29, including 14 offensive. Freshman Adam Gotelli was the fourth Cardinal in double figures with 11, including 4 pressure free throws down the stretch.
NIC wraps up their extended road trip this Wednesday at Moses Lake against Big Bend Community College before returning home Saturday to face the Community Colleges of Spokane in the first of four consecutive home games.
