Cardinals Men's Basketball Back on Track


Home cooking proved to be the recipe for success as the Cards knocked off Wenatchee Valley 86-77 Wednesday night at Rolly Williams court, snapping a rare, two-game losing streak. It was the first back-to-back league losses since January 2015. The Cardinals started strong ending the half with a 35-28 lead. NIC continued the defensive pressure starting the second-half on a 14-2 run, stretching the lead to 49-30. The Knights eventually battled back closing to single-digits before the Cardinals closed out the game to improve to 16-3 overall, 4-2 in the Northwest Athletic Conference. Freshman Marcus Golder led five Cards in double-figures with 23 points on 10 of 14 shooting. Sophomore Zaequan Satterthwaite continues to dominate in the interior, scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 9 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Sam Dowd tossed in 13 points, battled inside for 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Other Cards with double-figures included Freshman Niko Bevens with 12 points and Freshman Jalen Burkett with 10.

The Cardinals hit the road this Saturday (1/28) to face Blue Mountain CC for the first of three games in a row on the road. The Cards travel to Pasco, Washington on Monday, January 30 to face Columbia Basin College in a makeup game that was postponed January 11th because of school closures in the Tri-Cities area, and then finish at Yakima Valley College on Saturday, February 4th.

Saturday’s game against Blue Mountain CC tips off at 4:00pm, approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game which starts at 2:00pm
