MEN'S BASKETBALL: NIC Falls on Road at Spokane


The top ranked Men's Basketball team lost its second straight NWAC contest, falling to #3 ranked Community Colleges of Spokane, 101-94.

The Cards led 38-37 at halftime thanks to a half court buzzer beater by Sam Dowd. However the Sasquatch opened the second half on a 3 point blitz, hitting 5 consecutive shots from beyond the arc to go up 10 points, 52-42. The Cards rallied to eventually take the lead 71-70 on an alley-oop dunk by Marcus Golder (14 points) with 6 minutes remaining.

The lead changed hands several times in the final minutes, before the Cards missed shots down the stretch.

Ziggy Satterthwaite led the Cards with a double- double, 24 points and 12 boards. Dowd had a team high 26 points and 4 assists.

The Cards (3-2 NWAC, 15-3 overall) face Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday, January 25, at 8:00pm.
