WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Young Lady Cardinals Fall on the Road
When the predominantly freshmen Lady Cardinals put together four quarters of college level intensity they are an extremely strong squad. Unfortunately, a weak second quarter lead to a 69-58 loss on the road to Walla Walla Community College. The Lady Cardinals fell behind 45-25 at the half and played catch-up the entire evening. The Cards bounced back after halftime winning the third quarter in a dominant fashion and played the Lady Warriors even in the fourth. The Cards had no answer for Cierra Jo McKeown who tallied a game high 28 points, on 12-19 from the field, including 4-8 from 3 point range.
NIC was led by freshman Cierra Dvorak with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Lana Berg was strong both inside and outside, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Freshman Gia Sorn finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Sophomore guard Shayna Allert, who played at Walla Walla CC last season, hustled down 6 rebounds and led NIC with 4 assists.
